Please Help Us Welcome Sam Custer…

Sam recently joined MCAC’s Board of Trustees and we are extremely grateful for his commitment to the Arts in Medina County.

Sam Custer is a familiar name to many as he owns Sam Custer - State Farm Agent right here in Medina. Sam is very involved in the Medina community by volunteering his time and sponsoring many events. He is a member of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of Main Street Medina where he serves as Chair of the Economic Vitality Committee.

Sam moved his family to Medina in 2012 and both his children graduated from Medina High School. His daughter, who currently studies Musical Theater in NY, was a 4 year member of the Encore Entertainment Company, Medina High School’s Show Choir and was actively involved in musicals, plays & community theater.

Sam has always had a heart for the arts in all its forms. He graduated from Muskingum University with a double major in Business & Art.

Medina County Arts Council is a volunteer-based organization which relies on the dedication of volunteers who provide invaluable support and assistance in a variety of roles.

We are looking for community members with unique blend of skills, experiences, and perspectives to join MCAC’s board to help fulfill our mission and enhance our impact.

Arts in Education…

MCAC will once again be awarding grants to Medina County educators to support arts-related projects for their students. This includes, but is not limited to, the disciplines of music, visual art, theater, dance, and language arts. The grants are intended to aid teachers in funding an innovative and substantive project that might be outside of their administration’s budget. Applications accepted until October 15, 2024.

Walk Into History…

For more than two decades, Medina's SPIRITS OF THE PAST has been cooperatively staged by Medina County Arts Council, Medina County Historical Society and Medina County Show Biz Company. This guided walk around Medina's Historic Square shares stories about the lives of Medina's pioneers with dramatic reenactments performed by local actors.

~ 2024 Details ~

WHAT:        Every 10 minutes, guides will lead groups of 20 people around the Medina Square to hear stories from Medina’s past. 

WHEN:     Thursday, Sept. 5th 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
                   Friday, Sept. 6th 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Saturday, Sept. 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

WHERE:     Directly behind the Medina County Administration Building
(144 N. Broadway Street, Medina)

TICKETS:      $7 for adults, $4 for students (over 3 years of age)
Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the site on the day of the event. The number of tickets per time slot is limited. We will be selling 10 of those slots at presale and 10 on the night of the Walk.

Art in Nature - Pop Up Classes…

MCAC had the pleasure to partner with Medina County Park District again this summer for FREE Art in Nature Pop-up Art Classes!

We invited artists of all ages to join us for three FREE Art in Nature Pop-up Art classes in a fun, creative, and natural setting. In June, Mary Jo Oklessen taught Sounds All Around Us at Plum Creek Park; at Buckeye Woods Park in July, Cassie Jirous taught attendees the art of tie dying; and to wrap up the Art in Nature Pop-up Art Classes, Mena Merandino provided instructions for the Watercolor Postcards class at Letha House Park.

We want to thank everyone who signed up for the Nature Pop-up Art Classes and we are extremely appreciative for Mary Jo, Cassie, and Mena for giving us their time & talents to make these classes possible.
