Arts Views is a monthly e-newsletter from the Medina County Arts Council to promote our mission to advocate for, support, and nurture the arts in Medina County.

41st Arts Week…

MCAC’s 41st Annual Arts Week took place July 14th through 21st with the main purpose of making the arts accessible for children, adults, and families while providing arts related activities and programs at no or low cost.

MCAC hosted a “Celebration of the Arts” event on July 18th at Medina Square that featured performances by local youth; artists displays and demonstrations; exhibits by arts organizations; make-it-take-it crafts; and food trucks. The highlight of the celebration was having the attendees create a "Medina County Sticks Together" community mural.

Thank you to all who attended events throughout the county and a giant thank you to the organizations and businesses that hosted and coordinated these wonderful Medina County events!

Juried Photography Show …

The Medina County Arts Council is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 MCAC Juried Photography Show. The purpose of the show was to invite Medina County photographers of any level and age to share photos of their original piece that included portraits, landscape, street photography, fine art, documentary, and more.

Nearly 50 photos were submitted and will be on exhibit until August 4th at The Common Ground. The contest consisted of two age divisions (children and adults) as well as a People's Choice with each of the first place winners being awarded $50.00. 

Top Winners are.....

Adult Division:

1st Place "City by Sunset" by Eric Wethington
2nd Place "Baseball Focused" by Luigi Musto
3rd Place "Summer Butterfly" by Marlene Frygier 

Child Division:

1st Place "Seaside Treasure" by Skylir Miller

2nd Place "George" by Caitlin Gray

3rd Place "Lego + Boy" by Tristan "Snow" Sublett 

The public also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite photograph. People’s Choice voting was open online through July 31st - the entry that received the most public votes will be determined to be the People’s Choice winner which will be announced the first week of August.

Walk Into History…

For more than two decades, Medina's Spirits of the Past has been cooperatively staged by Medina County Arts Council, Medina County Historical Society and Medina County Show Biz Company. This guided walk around Medina's Historic Square shares stories about the lives of Medina's pioneers with dramatic reenactments performed by local actors.

~ 2024 Details ~

WHAT:        Every 10 minutes, guides will lead groups of 20 people around the Medina Square to hear stories from Medina’s past. 

WHEN:     Thursday, Sept. 5th 7:00pm - 8:30pm
                   Friday, Sept. 6th 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Saturday, Sept. 7:00pm - 9:00pm

WHERE:     Directly behind the Medina County Administration Building
(144 N. Broadway Street, Medina)

TICKETS:      $7 for adults, $4 for students (over 3 years of age)
Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the site on the day of the event. The number of tickets per time slot is limited. We will be selling 10 of those slots at presale and 10 on the night of the Walk.

Sunday, August 18th from 1 to 4p at the Medina County Historical Society Ice Cream Social at the McDowell Phillips House (205 S. Prospect St, Medina, Ohio).
