On behalf of the entire board at the Medina County Arts Council (MCAC), we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the community’s participation in our 3rd Annual Chocolate Walk fundraising event.

The support and enthusiasm played an essential role in making this event a remarkable success, helping us raise $8,350! This achievement will allow us to continue funding grants for arts education and programs for Medina County teachers and organizations, as well as empowering graduating Medina County high school students to pursue their passions with continuing their arts education through our scholarships.

The community’s belief in the transformative power of creativity and expression fuels our mission, and we are truly thankful for the commitment and generosity. Please Help Us Welcome Our Newest Board Members…

Elli recently joined the MCAC board of trustees and we are excited to have her be a part of of team. Elli is a current Counseling and Art Therapy graduate student at Ursuline College. She graduated from Medina High School in 2021 and has been dedicated to the arts her whole life. She is an artist with a focus on mixed media and drawing.  Eli is part of the Chi Alpha Theta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International as well as a board member of Access the Arts, a Medina County nonprofit. Currently, she works as the graduate assistant at the Women's Center for Ursuline College. Elli strongly believes that the arts are a force for healing and connection. As a community, we can make a difference in each other's lives by embracing the arts.

Margaret joined MCAC as a volunteer earlier this year and was recently voted in as a trustee. She is chair of the “Community Window Art Gallery” outreach project and is responsible for maintaining the display. Margaret attended the Vocational Commercial Art Program and graduated from Valley Forge High School in 1987. She is a long time Medina resident and an independent artist, establishing MedinasMemories in 2020. Always thinking about being creative, Margaret makes art using her photos of the Medina Gazebo. Among the merchandise she crafts are the “Illuminated Canvas Prints” setting lights into the photos of the gazebo at various times of the year.  In addition to the Illuminated Canvas Prints, she also makes: Snow Globes, Greeting Cards, Framed Photos, Christmas Bulbs and more. Margaret’s happy place is in her own backyard because of her love for gardening, which led her to join the Medina County Herb Society in 2015. She has been very active with the organization and has been the President since 2022. 

Before the pandemic, Margaret worked in long-term healthcare facilities, as a Certified Activities Director (A.D.C.) She enjoyed working as an Activities Director and has plans on returning to the field in 2025. Her partner Jim and her have 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. They attend Bethany Friends Church in Wadsworth. Jim is rebuilding a 1967 C10 Chevy Truck, and they like going to classic car shows.

Looking Ahead at Arts Week…

Planning for our 42nd Annual Arts Week has begun and we are seeking additional participation from the communities in Medina County. MCAC is looking for businesses, organizations, and local artist who are interested in hosting an event such as a tutorial, workshop, or mini performance.

Arts Week 2025 takes place the 3rd week of July and ends on the 20th.

The purpose of Arts Week is to provide free or low cost artistic experiences, activities and performances throughout Medina County for all ages with a goal to celebrate the arts and the creative spirit that flourishes within our county.

Spotlight on the Arts is a video series aimed at showcasing artistic talent within our community. With each episode, we will strive to foster greater appreciation and support for the work or local artists and arts organizations. This new initiative will serve as a platform to advocate for the vital role of the arts in enriching our community, nurturing creativity, and fostering connections among residents.

Community Window Gallery…

Medina County Arts Council (MCAC) is honored to collaborate with the Stephenson Family, turning the front windows of the historic Medina Hardware Store into a vibrant Window Art Gallery for the community. This exciting venture aims to celebrate and promote local artistic talent by providing a unique platform for them to showcase their work.

The Medina Hardware located at 225 South Court Street in Medina, OH has been a beloved feature of our community for decades and we are grateful to partner with the Stephenson Family to keep part of the historic space active serving the county.

Each month, the Window Art Gallery will feature a diverse selection of paintings, photography, sculptures, and other forms of art. This initiative promises to bring a dynamic artistic flair to the heart of Medina.

We invite artist of all ages to submit a piece for the display that will be temporarily loaned to MCAC .

Submission Deadline is 10th of every month.

Our next board meeting will be on Wednesday, November, 20th at 6pm. We meet in the Buehler’s River Styx Community Room located at 3626 Medina Road, Medina 44256 - hope to see you there.

Medina County Arts Council (MCAC) is a volunteer-based organization which relies on the dedication of volunteers who provide invaluable support and assistance in a variety of roles.

We are looking for community members with unique blend of skills, experiences, and perspectives to join volunteer with MCAC to help fulfill our mission and enhance our impact.
