Arts Views is a monthly e-newsletter from the Medina County Arts Council to promote our mission to advocate for, support, and nurture the arts in Medina County.

The Medina County Arts Council (MCAC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, having dedicated 4 decades to advocating for, supporting, and nurturing the arts in Medina County.

Since 1984, we’ve produced and promoted the annual July Arts Week festival - which includes arts programs, activities, and concerts for adults and families in Medina County. Several exciting programs are scheduled, but we need your help producing this long-standing event. We invite you to partner with us through sponsorship and help provide community-wide access to the arts.

ORMACO’s Jazz Under the Stars will be kicking off Arts Week on July 8th and will conclude on July 16th with the Medina County Art League’s 39th annual Art in the Park.

MCAC will have a special Celebration of the Arts on July 12th from 5 to 8pm at Medina’s Gazebo. Celebrate Medina County Arts Council’s 40th Birthday with youth performances, information from county arts organizations, arts programs for youth, and artists and lots of cake! The community will be invited to help us create a beautiful community mural to be installed in locations around Medina County.

The Board of Trustees of Medina County Arts Council is dedicated to upholding its mission of advocating for, supporting, and nurturing the arts in Medina County by providing scholarships to deserving seniors like these. We wish them the best in their education and future career!

MCAC would also like to thank every student who submitted a MCAC Scholarship application. We wish the best to the entire 2023 graduating class.

MCAC is pleased to announce the 2023 Organization Grant Recipients! These grants will allow organizations to provide opportunities to learn and experience artistic expression and make art accessible to all in Medina County.

2023 Organization Grant Recipients are:

• Medina Chorus, Inc. ($500) Operating expenses to include purchase of music, director and accompanist fees, and rehearsal and performance hall rental.

• Planet Joy Studio/Peaceworks ($650) To support operating costs such as supplies to help empower artists to expand their creativity skills and art mediums.

• Medina Community Band ($600) To provide operating expenses for the costs of presenting 8-10 concerts a year.

• Buckeye Community Theatre ($695) To cover the cost of musical scripts for Actors and Directors for the production of “Legally Blonde” - open to all county students.

• Hope Recovery Community ($700) Funds used to hire a Peer Recovery Art Specialist to oversee Art of Recovery programming for adults and children impacted by addiction.

• Integrated Community Solutions ($780) To pay for guest artist instructor once a month for one year for this organization that provides programming for children, teens and adults living with developmental disabilities.

• Downtown Wadsworth/Main Street Wadsworth ($500) To secure the services of a professional artist who will design and create an art mural in downtown Wadsworth.

*** The primary support for MCAC grants and scholarships come from contributions entrusted to us through gifts and annual fundraising events.

Committee Positions Open - The Medina County Arts Council is currently seeking volunteers for both the Community Outreach committee and the Development committee.

If you have the time and motivation to help with projects, love hands-on tasks and have a get-it-done attitude, you would fit right in.
