Arts Views is a monthly e-newsletter from the Medina County Arts Council to promote our mission to advocate for, support, and nurture the arts in Medina County.

MCAC Annual Meeting

The 2025 Medina County Arts Council Annual Meeting was held on February 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the Buehler’s River Styx Community Room. Representatives from seven of the organizations who were awarded grants in 2024 were present to discuss their projects and the impact of MCAC’s grants.

THANK YOU to Buckeye Community Theatre, Downtown Wadsworth Merchants’ Guild, Integrated Community Solutions, Lodi Family Center, Medina Chorus, Medina County Show Biz Company, Medina Creative Housing, and Wadsworth Community Radio for their dedication to making the Arts accessible to all.

Following the MCAC Annual Meeting, the 2024 Annual Report was released (Check it out here) and the trustees held elections for the 2025 slate of officers, trustees up for renewal, and new board member Dee Schippel. The 2025 officers are Abigail Sweigert -president, Sheila Noel-secretary, and Kelly Butler-treasurer. We thank Kelly Parks for her past term as president.

Welcome new board member Dee Schippel!

Dee Schippel is the owner of Romancing the Walls located at 443 West Liberty Street in Medina. She is a 3rd generation family artist. Not only has she served on many committees/boards, but she has also been an adult instructor for years. She has worked in many mediums... pottery, sculptures, paint (acrylic& oil), mixed medium, stitchery, wood working, interior design & floral design are just a few.
“I love that there are folks in Medina County with the passion and the vision to continue to support individuals, business and community in various venues and mediums.”

Dee is a huge advocate of the arts and we welcome her to the MCAC Board of Trustees!

Medina County Student Art Show

MCAC is proud to celebrate Youth Art Month. Medina County Art students of all ages will have some of their best work on display at businesses located in and around Medina’s Historic Square during their regular business hours as part of the Medina County Student Art Show. The show runs from March 3rd through the 31st.

A Student-Family reception is at Huntington Bank (39 Public Square, Medina) on Tuesday, March 4th from 6-7pm.

Beginning on March 3rd, listings of artwork by school, grade, and business locations will be posted at www.MedinaBees.org or www.MainStreetMedina.com

Celebrate the Service to the Arts Awards

Medina County Arts Council honors the accomplishments of those who have shown a commitment to enriching Medina County through the arts by awarding organizations and individuals with Service to the Arts award.

You may nominate an individual, yourself, an organization, a business, or special group. Nominations accepted until 3/31/2025. Click HERE for nomination form & additional info.

Date for MCAC’s annual Service to the Arts awards event in May will be announced soon.

2025 MCAC Scholarships

The Medina County Arts Council (MCAC) will be awarding one-time scholarships again this year to Medina County graduating seniors. Applications are open to all Medina County seniors graduating in 2025. Applications are being accepted until March 15, 2025.

Organization Grants

The Medina County Arts Council invites local organizations with an arts-centered focus or project to apply for grant funding to be awarded in 2025. To be eligible, applicant organizations must have 501(c)(3) status or be a not-for-profit organization located in Medina County and have a dedicated mission statement or special project with an arts focus. The application deadline is 3/21/2025.

Arts Week 2025

MCAC is looking for businesses, organizations, and local artists who are interested in hosting an event for Arts Week such as a tutorial, workshop, competition, or mini performance.

The purpose of Arts Week is to provide free or low cost artistic experiences, activities and performances throughout Medina County for all ages with a goal to celebrate the arts and the creative spirit that flourishes within our county.

If you would like to be a part of MCAC’s 42nd Annual Arts Week, please email us MedinaCoArtsCouncil@gmail.com with your proposal.

Board & Committee Positions Open - we are looking for people to fill open board positions and help on committee.
