Service to the Arts Awards…

Each year MCAC honors those who have  enriched Medina County with the arts through the Service to the Arts awards and celebrates these individuals and organizations in our community for their passion, efforts and commitment to the arts.

Please join us on February 21, 2024 at our Annual Meeting when we recognize artists and organizations for their dedication and hard work towards making Medina County the thriving arts community it is and continues to be.  (Ticket Sales Coming Soon!)

Nominations for the 2023 Service to the Arts are now being accepted online - submit yours HERE (Self-nominations are accepted.)
Please be prepared to upload supporting materials or images.

Selection Process
The MCAC Service to the Arts Awards selection committee will review all applications based on the criteria stated in nomination form and the completion of the application materials. The committee will make the recommendations for the award recipients to the MCAC Board of Directors for approval.

Give Thanks…

This year MCAC celebrated their 40th anniversary as an organization this year and has a lot to be thankful for.

• Raised almost $9,500 with our Chocolate Walk fundraiser

• Awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarships to Medina County graduating seniors

• Awarded a total of $5,000 in grants to county organizations with an arts-centered focus or arts related projects

• Awarded $1,600 in grants to four Medina County educators to support arts-related projects for their students

• Continued to grow our Arts Roundtable events which support artists and arts organizations in Medina County

• Held the 40th Annual Medina County Arts Week in July

• Presented the Service to the Arts awards, honoring those who have enriched Medina County with the arts and celebrate these individuals and organizations in our community for their passion, efforts and commitment to the arts.

• Launched a Community Window Art Gallery with the Stephenson Family at the historic Medina Hardware store displaying artwork from local artists

We would like to give thanks to our sponsors and those who have donated to MCAC throughout the year, big or small. With your support, MCAC continues to advocate, support, and nurture the Arts in Medina County.

Educator Grants Awarded…

The Medina County Arts Council awarded $3,571.91 in grants for arts-related projects in Medina County Schools/Organizations for the 2023/2024 school year. Grants are awarded for projects in music, visual art, theater, dance, and language arts, but are not limited to those areas.

The following 2023/2024 Educator grants were awarded from the Nancy Sprowls Memorial Fund:

• Erin  Kraly - Huntington Elementary School (Brunswick)
  Project Title:  Wild About the Arts

• Jeannette Timko - Kidder Elementary School (Brunswick)
  Project Title:  Kidder Theater Club Start-Up

• Danielle Cuculic - Medina High School
  Project Title:  Adventures in Plein Air Drawing

• Tyler Skidmore - Medina High School
  Project Title: Dalcroze Eurhythmics Workshop

The following 2023/2024 Educator grants were awarded from general funding:

• Cassie Jirous - Lodi Family Center
  Project Title: Media Lab/Teaching Artistic Behaviors (TAB)

• Amy Muhl - Central Intermediate School (Wadsworth)
  Project Title: Adaptive Hand Drums

• Marlene Bossart - Central Intermediate School (Wadsworth)
  Project Title:  Adaptive Art Integration
