The Medina County Arts Council is pleased to announce four winners of the 2022 MCAC Scholarship Program. This year, we were able to increase our awards from $1,750 to $3,000 because of our generous donors. Here are this year’s recipients:

Georgia Nielson (Medina High School) - $1,000
Katrina Boyce (Wadsworth High School) - $1,000
Emma Hetkey (Highland High School) - $500
Natalie Batey (Wadsworth High School) - $500

The Medina County Arts Council Board of Trustees is pleased to award five art teacher grants this year totaling $1,583.37. Here are the teachers and locations awarded:

Medina County Arts Council announces Arts Week 2022 with an arts camp for kids and daily activities and performances at multiple locations throughout Medina County.

Near Public Square in Medina

The Medina County Arts Council is proud to announce its first annual Arts Camp for kids in Medina near the Square. The purpose of this camp is to give children an exposure to the arts and experience the joy that creativity and self-expression can bring. It will include visual art, dance and theater skills and will group children by grades (1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th).

Arts Events in May

Medina High School Choir Department presents their spring choir performance, SHOWTIME. A MHS tradition since 1970, each choir performs in this show – complete with choreography, costumes, their student Showtime pit band, and special lighting/scenic design. It gives the Medina community a real taste of Broadway. This year, MHS will offer 4 performances of this special student showcase. Preview show on Thursday, May 12 at 4 PM , Reserved seating on Friday, May 13 at 7 PM, General seating on Saturday, May 14 at 2 PM & Reserved seating at 7 PM. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its FREE Sunday Concerts in the Country with the Turner/Exton/Goodman/Cirilllo Jazz Quartet on Sunday, May 15th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at HeARTland, 8187 Camp Road Homerville, Ohio, 44235. The program focuses on the importance of the jazz organ and the development of its role in the jazz idiom. Learn more or to reserve your seat, visit ormaco.org

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue their Sunday Live at the Library concerts with Cleveland-based vocalist Dane Vannatter as he salutes 20th century women songwriters, from Tin Pan Alley to Motown. The program is FREE, but reservations are recommended by registering online or calling 419-853-6016.
