The Medina County Arts Council Board of Trustees has approved and announced grants to seven county organizations and programs for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. Our grants, totaling $3,000 for this coming year’s activities and special projects, cover a wide variety of activities in the arts in seven organizations. Grant totals were under last year’s due to reduced income for advertising in the Spotlight Showcase program.
A grant was awarded to the Medina Chorus for concert expenses and guest soloists for the year. Three theatre companies, Stage Left Theatre Company, Brunswick Alumni Community Theatre, and Medina County Show Biz Company, will receive grants to help cover production expenses. Grants were also awarded to the “World Tour of Music” concert series sponsored by Main Street Medina, and to Brunswick Art Works for their series of monthly presentations by artists. Hinckley’s Cliffside Artists Collaborative program for artists and students also received a grant for the first time.
Grants awarded to these organizations this year are funded through the Medina County Arts Council Endowment Fund, managed by the Akron Community Foundation, and income from our annual November fundraiser, the Spotlight Showcase.
