2021 MCAC Scholarship Winners

We are pleased to announce the 2021 winners of the MCAC Scholarship Awards. Due to an increase in donations, we were able to provide three scholarships this year (pictured left to roght):

• Ian Morgan, Medina High School - $1,000 (pictured left)

• Isabelle Hahn, Medina High School - $500 (center)

• Aaron Reising, Wadsworth High School - $250 (right)

Nominations Open

Medina County Arts Council would like to honor individuals and organizations that have made important contributions to the arts in Medina County in 2021 with its annual Service to the Arts Awards. The awards will be presented at the “Harvest of the Arts” Event scheduled for Sept. 23. Details will be available next month.

If you would like to nominate an individual, yourself, an organization, a business, or special group, please complete a nomination form and return it to the Arts Council by July 1, 2021.

MCAC Sponsors Open Mic Night

This month’s MCAC Open Mic Night was held on June 4 at Root Candles Flagship Store in Medina during Game Night on 1st Friday. These local artists and ensembles expressed their creativity to the group that gathered to enjoy:

Upcoming Community Arts Events

June 19- Opera under the Stars, Uptown Park, Medina
ORMACO continues its summer concert series at 7 pm with Opera under the Stars as members of the Cleveland Opera Theater return for the sixth season. Enjoy some of your favorite opera tunes, as well as lesser-known works. Also, relish some beloved melodies from operettas and musicals. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy this free concert. In the event of rain, the concert will be held at The United Church of Christ, 217 East Liberty Street, Medina, OH 44256. June 25- Music at the Arboretum- Joe Leaman and Friends: Sounds of the Carribbean, Secrest Arboretum Amphitheater, 2122 Williams Road, Wooster, OH 44691, 6:30-8:30 pm. ORMACO and Friends of the Secrest Arboretum continue their free summer concert series with Joe Leaman and Friends as they bring to you the high-energy sounds of the Caribbean with their steel drums. Joe is an in-demand percussionist, pianist, composer, arranger and educator throughout the greater Ohio region. As a steel pannist, Joe’s enjoys showcasing the range and versatility of the instrument by playing jazz, classical, and pop music, as well as music of the traditional Caribbean canon.
