Arts Views is a monthly e-newsletter for Medina County Arts Council friends and Medina County residents to promote and build community excellence through the arts.

A Good Harvest

Harvest for the Arts, Medina County Arts Council's annual fund raiser was a great success thanks to the hard work of our trustees and the generous support of our 130 attendees, local restaurants and businesses. The evening started with attendees enjoying small plates samplings from local restaurants: 111 Bistro, Blue Heron Brewery, Buehler's, Miss Molly's, Pickle Mama's, P.J. Marley's, Sandridge Foods, Santosuossos, Sully's Irish Pub, and Swine BBQ.

The highlight of the evening was the chance to honor and show our appreciation to our four Service to the Arts Awardees who have made a significant contribution to the arts culture of Medina County. Grace Zay received the Lifetime Service to the Arts Award for her lifelong involvement with the arts as an artist using her talents to support local organizations and as a mentor to many aspiring artists.

Ron Stollar, Superintendent of the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center, received the Service to the Arts-Community Engagement award for starting the Therapeutic Art Program at the Center. Jim Gilder received the Service to the Arts Award in Education. Jim is a retired theater teacher and currently works with residents of Western Reserve Masonic Community to produce a readers theater. Jill Morton received the Service to the Arts Award -Volunteer for her tireless work in the community to support the arts, plan children's arts classes, art shows and events.

The festivities of the evening raised over $8,000 to support Arts Council programs and activities including Grants, Scholarships and Arts Week. Thanks again and hope to see you next year!

Enjoy a special dinner in the home of Medina County Arts Council supporters while raising funds to support arts grants, scholarships, Arts Week, and special arts programming for the children of our county. A Spirited Adventure

Thank you to our guests and partners at Medina Show Biz and the Medina County Historical Society for an enjoyable tour of Medina’s historic past with the 25th Anniversary presentation of Spirits of the Past guided walking tours on Sept. 9-11 and concluding on Sunday, Sept. 12 with Dine with the Spirits at Miss Molly’s Tea Room.

The Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach continues its free events including Concerts in the Country at HeARTland, 8187 Camp Road in Homerville with Cleveland-harpsichordist Qin Ying Tan at 4:30 pm on October 10; Concerts in the Courtyard at Wadsworth Public Library with Cliff Habian Trio: Tunes from the American Songbook on Sunday, October 17 at 2 pm; and the World Tour of Music at the Wadsworth Library’s OJ Work Auditorium with Alla Boara (Italian Folk Songs) on Saturday, October 30 at 8 pm.
