Walk into history, for a fun evening of stories about early pioneers and events from Medina’s past with a guided stroll around Medina’s Historic Square. At different locations around the Square you will hear actors portraying our historical events and people.

Thursday, Sept 9 – Saturday, Sept 11 Tours start at 7 pm and run until 8:30 pm and begin at the Medina County Administration Building (144 N Broadway St. Medina, OH) from the parking lot at the rear of the building. Tours will leave from the starting point every 10 minutes. Presale Tickets: Adults (12+) $5, Students (under 12) $2, under 3 – Free; John Smart House/Medina Co. Historical Society Museum, 206 N. Elmwood St.; Wednesday, Sept 8, 3–6 pm and Thursday, Sept 9, 10 am–2 pm. Event Day Tickets: Adults (12+) $6, Students (under 12) $3 under 3 – Free; 6:30 pm at the back of the Medina Administration Building where the Walk begins. The number of tickets sold for each time slot are limited. Pay by cash or check to “Medina County Arts Council.” The Spirit Walk will follow current State COVID guidelines. Presented by Medina County Arts Council, Medina County Historical Society and Medina Show Biz.

Service to the Arts Lifetime Award Grace Zay has been an award winning artist and shining light in the Medina County arts community since she and husband Arthur moved to Medina in 1972, and was a founder of the first “Art in the Park” in 1973. |

Service to the Arts Education Award Jim Gilder has been an advocate for the performing arts in Medina Co. for over four decades. He taught drama and directed theatrical performances for four plays a year for 39 years. |

Service to the Arts Community Award While Ron Stollar is not a traditional artist, you could say he is a "sculptor" of sorts. Ron was instrumental in starting the art therapy program at the Medina Co. Juvenile Detention Center. |

CAC Digital Art Workshops

Saturday, Aug. 28 proved to be a life-changing day to several high school art students in Medina County. They had the rare opportunity to attend an all-day, intensive digital art workshop at Cliffside Artists Collaborative (CAC) in Hinckley, Ohio generously funded by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. Thanks to a collaboration between CAC and the Medina County Arts Council (MCAC), and taught by Kent State Art Professor, Don King, students learned how to use their own photos to create surreal digital collages, as well as how to turn their photos into dynamic digital paintings. They photographed the interior and exterior of the elaborate grounds and created digital collages on I-pads loaned to them for the day. Based on the success of this pilot program, there will be several other digital art workshops in the near future at Cliffside Artists Collaborative. Read more …

James & Madelaine MacQueen: Sunday, Sept 12, 2 pm ORMACO continues its free Concerts in the Country series with Cleveland-based James and Madelaine MacQueen performing folk songs as viewed through a classical lens. The program will take place at HeARTland, 8187 Camp Road Homerville, Oh. In the event of rain and if COVID regulations permit, the concert will take place at the Homerville Community Center Auditorium, 8964 Spencer Road, Homerville, Oh. More details at www.ormaco.org/z-elisabeth-shafer or call 419-853-6016 Elisabeth Shafer - Sunday, Sept 26, 2 pm ORMACO and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Concerts in the Courtyard with Akron-based trombonist Elisabeth Shafer, accompanied by keyboardist Timothy Shafer. The program takes place in the Wadsworth Public Library Courtyard, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, Oh. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the library community room. Elaine Lamb from Medina mostly works in porcelain. Each is original, hand-built or wheel-thrown with black and white sgraffito designs accented with silk screen transfers and highlighted with colored glaze. She use images and designs depicting the mood and feel of the built and natural environment, creating pieces that are lively and vibrant for entertaining as well as a treat to the eye for everyday use.
